Founded in 1981, the Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) is a highly visible non-profit organization that provides food assistance to individuals and families in need in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee, Clare, Isabella and Gratiot counties. Food is distributed through an extensive network of food pantries, shelters and community kitchens located throughout the region. GLFB annually serves tens of thousands of people, many of them seniors and children. Our recipients also include the “working poor,” those individuals who are employed but don’t earn enough to meet housing, health, transportation and food needs.
GLFB is seeking an organized, detail-oriented and reliable individual to step into the newly created position of Development & Marketing Assistant as part of our team. This is a full-time position and will work 40 hours per week during our normal business hours (8a-5p) Monday through Friday with occasional evening/weekend hours for special events. The ideal candidate must be a hands-on team player with a positive attitude who is diligent, patient and flexible. This is a great position for introduction into nonprofit development and will provide support for all fundraising and marketing activities of GLFB. This position reports to the Development & Major Gifts Manager and works closely with all Development staff, Marketing Coordinator, Director of Administration, Executive Director, and others when required. This associate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the willingness to take initiative and figure things out - an aptitude to learn new duties is a must! A passion for our mission of feeding those in need is a definite plus.

o Process and enter all Gifts (monetary and in-kind) accurately and promptly into donor database system (Donor Perfect)
§ identify errors and missing information, alert Development Manager or Development Officer to any problem or change in a donor’s gift
§ monitor and track all tribute gifts
o Track and execute all acknowledgement/payment/tax and thank you letters promptly and accurately
o Maintain master donor recognition/stewardship list and track all donor sponsorships to ensure accurate recognition is completed with each donor
§ Assist with the fulfilment of sponsor/donor recognition as directed
§ Write multimedia thank you content for donor appreciation
§ Create Social Media content where requested
o Produce database reports as required and requested
o Proactively maintain accurate donor records in database to ensure data integrity
§ identify duplicate records
§ identify and track changes in donor status
§ identify and update incorrect addresses
§ enter appropriate data into donor records
o Maintain accurate hard-copy donor files
o Assist with annual Empty Plate event
§ Print event related letters; sponsor packets; and general correspondence
§ Assist with auction solicitation efforts including making asks or sending mailings, following up, securing donations and/or organizing details
§ Maintain event spreadsheets, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for the event
o Assist with other events and special campaigns as required
o Supporting Social Media efforts and scheduling content
o Maintain & coordinate a central Development and Marketing inter-department calendar and project tracking VIA project management software
o Assemble promotional, sponsor, and/or donor packets for organization events, meetings, and presentations
o Organizing content for formal monthly E-Newsletters
o Proofreading copy on various projects
