Global Healing is seeking a Development Communications Manager to help us grow our organization through individual donor and major gift fundraising, and support our organizational mission through the effective recruitment of volunteers. The successful candidate will lead efforts to expand our lists of donors and volunteers and cultivate them by establishing a multi-year integrated communications strategy and implementation plan, in addition to assisting the President in prospecting for and cultivating major gifts donors and preparing for capital campaigns. This is a unique opportunity to blend non-profit development acumen with communications expertise.
The Development Communications Manager will help tell our story and increase awareness of our organization through digital and print marketing and communications (blog posts, press releases, newsletters, etc.). The role includes establishing and managing the Development and Communications Calendars, driving production of our Annual Report, managing digital and social media strategy and channels, and designing and executing fundraising campaigns.
This position will be assisted by 2 part-time staff: an Office Manager who records and tracks contributions, maintains donor records, and manages donor recognition and a Social Media Intern who drafts, edits and distributes social media posts.
Responsibilities and duties of the position:
Develop and implement strategic development communications plan.
Oversee donor and volunteer stewardship activities to retain and engage established supporters.
Conduct outreach activities to expand our donor list.
Conduct donor list analytics and segmentation to maximize donor impact.
Design and distribute targeted communications to maintain and increase donor and volunteer engagement.
Identify prospective major gifts donors and assist the President with cultivation of prospects.
Help the organization prepare for capital campaigns by developing prospective donor pools and statements of need.
Develop and execute multi-year development plan, annual fundraising calendar and annual communications calendar.
Augment current Salesforce fundraising system capabilities, and develop and maintain a prospect profile, strategy and tracking/priority system
Choose themes, design and develop informational materials, and deliver them as targeted communications to segmented donor lists.
Design and develop communications materials to support and engage donors, specifically targeted to new, repeat, monthly, lapsed, and potential major donors.
Conduct digital and print marketing campaigns to raise funds, extend the organization's reach and reinforce our brand.
Education and Experience
This position requires at least 3 years of development/fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization and 2-4 years of communications experience either at an agency or company. Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degree, CFRE certification, and experience in a health related field preferred and would be advantageous.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication and graphic design skills; able to tell compelling stories through text and images.
Strong team leadership skills.
Strong organizational and planning skills and ability to maintain ongoing focus on annual calendars and production schedules.
Experience in social media channel management, multi-channel marketing and media relations.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Proven track record of achieving fund development goals; in-depth knowledge of fundraising management systems, major gift cultivation and stewardship,
Highly Detail Oriented, especially in managing deadlines and producing written materials.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce, and Wordpress.
