Uniting NC, Programs Coordinator
As the Programs Coordinator, the corps member will work directly with the Executive Director and Uniting NC staff to manage and grow the organization’s key programs, including outreach to immigrant/refugee communities and coordinating services. Depending on the skills of the corps member, as well as any major changes in immigration policy that affect immigrant families living in NC, the corps member would work on a combination of the following programs:
Code the Dream - recruiting, tracking and providing support for students, as they embark on the difficult but incredibly rewarding process of gaining the skills to move into a tech career
Community Building - working with immigrant communities and non-immigrant churches and other community organizations to create more integrated communities through community events and social media campaigns
Immigration Services - depending on policy changes, Uniting NC may offer basic immigration services to immigrant families in need of assistance
In this position, the corps member will oversee communications projects, i.e., blog, video, photo, etc., and participate in nonprofit management and development.
Motivated quick learner who likes working with people
Basic tech savvy (Word, Google docs) plus willingness to learn
Spanish speaker encouraged but not required
Computer science/programming background encouraged but not required
Interested in social justice and equal opportunity for immigrants/refugees
JSC corps members serve at their internships for 32 hours/week. In addition, they participate in JSC’s Servant Leadership curriculum on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. Corps members live together in intentional community with their peers and share community meals, weekly meetings, and household chores.
The work schedule for Uniting NC is as follows:
Monday - Thursday 9:00AM - 5:00PM
