Club Nova, JSC Intern - Generalist
Staff role working side by side with members while maintaining documentation required for the operation of the organization. The generalist will utilize the public face of the Club Nova Culinary Unit to generate community awareness of Club Nova’s mission as well as assist other units with special projects.
Approximately 75% of the work week the member will work in the culinary unit, serving on average 15 breakfasts and 30 lunches purchased and served 6 days a week. In addition, the unit is responsible for preparing these meals and holiday/celebration dinners. It is necessary to have two Generalists present to accomplish this task. The other 25% the member will work on other areas not limited to the program/ administrative/ or Thrift Shop that will include data entry, development, and marketing, customer service, and financial accountability. The demographics change daily.
There is a required driving license for this position utilizing the vehicles of Club Nova. Mileage reimbursed on as needed basis.
Previous experience living/working with adults with mental illness is helpful but not required;
The ability to work in an unstructured environment with little direct guidance after training
Open to working alongside of individuals living with mental illness
JSC corps members serve at their internships for 32 hours/week. In addition, they participate in JSC’s Servant Leadership curriculum on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. Corps members live together in intentional community with their peers and share community meals, weekly meetings, and household chores.
We do not have handicap access on our second floor. Physical disability and the inability to climb stairs cannot be accommodated in this position. Although some of the staff have reported supports from a mental health provider, Club Nova is unable to place a person with a diagnosis likened to our members in the role of the Generalist.
