Anathoth Community Garden & Farm, Communication Liaison
The Communication Liaison corps member works closely in the field with Anathoth’s staff, interns, and volunteers, and in the community which Anathoth serves, relaying stories, announcements, and other pertinent information via email, website, social media, and interpersonal networking.
The corps members’ tasks will shift as needed. During the Harvest Share season (April-December), they will spend 50% of their time (including Saturdays) in the garden and 50% of their time working in communications – working on the weekly newsletter, updating the website and social media sites, etc. From January-March, the corps member will spend 100% of their time on communications and assisting staff in coordinating opportunities to share more about the mission in person, primarily with the network of churches throughout the Triangle and also other community groups.
The corps member will help reach out to Harvest Share members, plan activities for the workdays, and communicate about upcoming events through social media or handouts that go in the boxes delivered to the members. They will also help track workday participation. This role will help increase engagement with Harvest Share members allowing more members to be touched by the deeper aspects of the mission relating to peace-making and community-building, moving the Harvest Share program from simply a distribution mechanism by which to alleviate hunger and malnutrition to a connection program.
Excellent writing skills
JSC corps members serve at their internships for 32 hours/week. In addition, they participate in JSC’s Servant Leadership curriculum on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. Corps members live together in intentional community with their peers and share community meals, weekly meetings, and household chores.
Anathoth requires the adults serving as a summer intern or season-long apprentice to be physically capable of demanding agricultural work in extreme weather.
