The Volunteer Coordinator oversses the coordination and administration of all aspects of volunteer participation in AID NW programs, including interviewing, completing necessary paperwork and background checks, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers and student interns and ensuring that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization in three broad areas:
Primary Duties and Responsiblities
Find and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, email, social media, etc)
Orient and train volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its clients, its services, and the role and responsiblities of volunteers to be successful in their positions.
Establish practices to increase the retention of volunteers through formal and informal acknowledgements of their contributions and the difference they are making in the lives of the immigrants that AID NW serves.
Maintain professional rapport and effective communication with AID NW's network of partners, with GEO officers and ICE/DRO officials.
Promote AID NW programs to increase community support of the volunteer programs and the organization.
Engage with other volunteer coordinators operating similar programs in detention centers in other parts of the country to ensure AID NW programs have incorporated best practices.
Prepare monthly reports of volunteer activity
