Avaaz is searching for a brilliant, talented individual to work with our Chief Operating Officer, Heather Reddick, in our Union Square office in NYC.
Heather isn’t looking for an assistant who can solely provide admin support, she wants someone who can be an “extension of her brain,” effectively managing her through each minute of her day, and performing many of the operational tasks (both financial and human resources related) Heather completes alongside her. Her assistant needs to be a logistics guru, while also understanding the work of our campaigns, legal, tech, and media teams. Her assistant needs to know the ins and outs of team policy, communicate effortlessly with each member of our global team, and brief Heather accurately and succinctly on a myriad of projects being implemented across the organisation. Heather needs a brilliant writer who can copy edit excellently, while also having the confidence to draft letters for her addressed to Avaaz’s allies and partner organisations. As Chief Operating Officer, Heather helps each and every part of the organization to function seamlessly and, in essence, she's looking for someone who will thrive in supporting and working alongside her through each piece.
In addition to the work alongside Heather, our operations team members take on exciting projects within the larger organisation, such as planning team retreats and organising logistics for media stunts and campaign deliveries. This is a challenging and exciting position at the heart of one of the most innovative and promising public organisations in the world today. It offers a unique platform from which to develop and pursue large-scale social change efforts.

Strong computer skills. Google mail and docs management experience preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Extremely detail-oriented, conscientious, and self-motivated.
Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and requirements in an extremely fast-paced environment.
