The temporary Youth Care Counselor plays a vital role in this commitment.
Supervise and interact with female residents aged 10 to 18 to maintain their safety, security and well-being and to assist them in meeting their individual needs and developing their life skills. Complete daily tasks and duties as assigned. Must be willing to work on a team, in a Milieu environment. Must be available to work weekends.
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university (social work, psychology, sociology or juvenile justice preferred); or four years of experience working with youth which may have resulted from work, internships or volunteering. Experience working with youth in a shelter setting is preferred.
Must be able to provide appropriate services and interact appropriately with people from diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic, and other cultural groups.
Must possess a valid driver’s license from state of residence (Oregon or Washington), personal automobile liability insurance, reliable personal transportation, and pass a DMV driving record check.
Must successfully pass pre-employment reference checks, criminal background check, including, if applicable, fingerprinting.
