POSTING PERIOD:                 Thursday, March 30, 2017 – Thursday, April 13, 2017

LOCATION:                               Hamden, CT

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Community Partners in Action (CPA), founded in 1875, has designed RisE, a freestanding substance abuse treatment and educational instruction program in a structured therapeutic environment for up to (12) adolescent boys between the ages of 12-18 years old. The goal of RisE is to provide compassionate care that improves the health, recovery, and well-being of each adolescent and his defined family. RisE is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCF). (Recovery Friendly Environment)

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will have at least one year experience working in the human services field with adolescent boys with substance use disorder, mental health and/or other behavior issues; knowledge of Recovery Models and best practice interventions; ability to interact with multi-cultural populations; crisis management skills; share the belief that people can change and individuals in need deserve quality services and an opportunity for recovery; must have a valid CT driver’s license and reliable transportation. . Ability to work weekends and additional hours as needed. Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is desired.  (Recovery Friendly Environment)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

 

  • ·                 Engage in the Therapeutic Community and assist with daily participant activities. Ensure a safe, secure and gender responsive environment for all utilizing appropriate de-escalation and behavior motivation techniques, including physical restraint in emergency situations.
  • ·                 Be an advocate for all participants and encourage their full participation in individualized treatment plans.
  • ·                 Help maintain participant accountability through the use of client treatment goals.
  • ·                 Follow all RisE and agencies policies and procedures at all times.   
  • ·                 Proactively act as a mediator when necessary to effectively resolve participant conflicts in a solutions focused manner.  
  • ·                 Facilitate participant visits with family and other approved individuals.
  • ·                 Maintain professional boundaries with participants, staff, volunteers, family member/visitors and providers at all times.
  • ·                 Maintain and complete timely treatment logs and forms as required.
  • ·                 Facilitate pro-social groups as assigned.
  • ·                 Participant in weekly treatment meetings to review participant goals and progress.
  • ·                 Be familiar with universal precautions and related issues including risk of communicable diseases.
  • ·                 Serve as positive role model following program guidelines for professional conduct and code of ethics and maintain a professional image at all times.
  • ·                 As needed, administer medication to participants and handle necessary paperwork for participant’s successful treatment.
  • ·                 Engage in all training offered to enhance professional development (required/non-required).
  • ·                 Perform all other duties as required.
