Global BrightLight Foundation (GBL) is seeking a graphic design and communications intern to assist in the development of digital media (i.e. infographics, videos, & social media content) to help build brand awareness, launch new marketing campaigns and engage potential donors.
This is a great opportunity for a design or communications student who is looking to gain hands on experience with a high impact for-purpose organization. The graphic design intern will work directly with the Director of Communications & Marketing to develop GBL’s social media and website content. The intern will also have the opportunity to gain additional experience including exposure to the operational, administrative, strategic communications and event planning activities of GBL. The intern will also have opportunity to assist with strategically incorporating a series of innovative virtual reality experiences into GBL’s marketing efforts.
The intern will report directly to the Director of Communications and Marketing and also work with GBL’s CEO.
The intern is expected to work 10 to 15 hours per week, typically 2 to 3 days per week. Schedule is flexible and negotiable. The internship position is not compensated, though we will assist to have it count for college credit, if eligible through your degree program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design clear and captivating graphic communications for web and social media channels
Create messaging content for social media posts for new fundraising campaigns
Draft email marketing content for new and potential donors
Strong background in graphic arts
Prior experience creating graphics for websites and social media
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva and/or other common design and layout applications
Access to own computer
Ability to work from home and attending in person meetings at GBL’s HQ in Chinatown, DC
Extremely organized and detail oriented
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with team
Ability to work to deadlines
